Budz is the latest coffee house to open up in Colombo and is actually quite nice. The ambience is a lot more casual and less commercialized than Barista or Coffee Bean and the décor is done up pretty well and it comes as a welcome respite if you’re tired of the same old.
The food is average (well, what we had at least. I’m yet to check out the rest of the menu) but it’s still worth checking out for the chilled out ambience, live music and those comfy bean bags.
What with the live performances (Percussion form Thriloka on Saturdays and Jazz on Wednesdays, yo) and colourful walls, its actually one of those places that I secretly dreamed of opening, but maybe with a pretty fountain, art gallery and waiters with silk turbans.
Ps – It’s tucked away on Rosmeade Place (the lane in front of Kess).
Pps – Aren’t the painted coffee tables nice?

>ambiance is nice but the service SUCKS

>The yellow walls look a bit kitsch but the black and white photos are a really nice touch. Is this a chain type thing or an independent place?

>T, the first few times were ok and I never really noticed, but we were there tonight and they were kinda sloppy, messing our bils and stuff.sue, you should definitely check it out.
vindi, the decor is slightly mish-mashed actually. They've got this nice retro thing going on with vintage posters and pictures and then suddenly there are tribal masks and instruments popping up here and there. And its an independent thing btw. >Hey, this is my cousin's place
I like the food there but I do agree that service is sometimes slow. Try the Banana Bash milkshake. Is awesome!

>unsilent, I'll be going by your recommendation. If its not good, you'll have to refund me.
JP, yeah. I know quite a few people who aren't too big on it. Personally, I think it was the instruments and the beanbags which really had me sold.
Sabby, lets go, yo!Finrod, will check that out as well.

>Interesting concept, with the live music taking it beyond Commons. But yesterday when we went there were only three other people (apart from my friend and me)the whole evening and it was far too quiet. Guess we just picked the wrong day..?
